Battenkill Valley Health Center Inc., is a nonprofit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Arlington, Vt., that provides affordable, quality primary and preventive care for all. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Bennington County is fortunate to have the fifth highest per-capita income in Vermont at roughly $28,000. Unfortunately, the Vermont Department of Health estimates four out of 10 people in our county are underinsured and 26 percent of all uninsured individuals throughout the state call southwest Vermont home. The BVHC’s designation as a FQHC is unique as it is a one-stop comprehensive health center – even for those with difficulty paying for health services – thanks to enhanced Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement rates which help bridge the gap.

BVHC is the only primary care practice in Bennington County that offers a sliding-fee scale for eligible county residents who are uninsured, underinsured or have high-deductible health insurance plans. We also accept most commercial insurances as well as Medicare and Medicaid.

We are a partner with the Vermont Blueprint for Health program which offers each patient a “medical home” with access to an on-site dietitian, social worker, nurse case manager and mental health specialist – all at no cost.

Battenkill Valley Health Center is in the process of expansion and plans to build an 8,000-square-foot building at 4866 Vermont Route 7A in Arlington. This will allow us to expand our mental health services and add dental services for our patients. The estimated project cost is $1.5 million.
